This presentation will compare the different sympathomimetic drugs and their vasoactive and inotropic effects, briefly covering their mechanism of action and applying it to the desired effect to support cardiovascular function. Aspects of contractility, vascular resistance and rhythm will be considered to choose the right sympathomimetic drug to obtain the desired blood pressure, contractility and cardiac output, and heart rate during scenarios of normovolemic and hypovolemic hypotension.
