Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesia

Dr. Ciara Barr received her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her anesthesia residency at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and became board certified as a Veterinary Anesthesiologist in 2017. She is currently enrolled in the Master of Healthcare Quality and Safety at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Safety.
Dr. Barr is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesia at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She is currently involved in improving anesthesia and operating room workflow efficiency within the small animal veterinary hospital. She is also focused on improving patient safety in anesthesia and throughout the hospital via her participation in mulitdisciplinary committees including Adverse Events Committee, Patient Care Committee, and the Infection Prevention Committee. Her clinical interests include the anesthetic management of cardiac patients, management of difficult airways and the standardization and improvement of anesthesia patient care.
