The ability to visualise and manipulate 3D virtual models of bones and implants in CAD software allows for precise virtual positioning of total joint replacement compiinents in all six degrees of freedom. All relevant bone landmarks and axes can be visualised and assessed, and individual variations in anatomy accounted for. Patient-specific guides are then designed to appropriately prepare recipient bone beds and facilitate optimal component implantation. This presentation will describe current clinical and research applications including total stifle, elbow, hip and tarsal replacement.
