Left dorsal displacement of the large colon as well as small intestinal incarceration in the epiloic foramen or inguinal canal are common causes for colic in horses. In order to avoid recurrence, different techniques have been described in literature. Since laparoscopic techniques have been introduced for ablation of each space in the standing sedated horse, these surgical procedures have become well established for relevant clinical cases.
