Thoracic surgery is evolving toward a minimally invasive approach, including video-assisted thoracic surgery and thoracoscopy. The goal of the minimally invasive approach is to reduce soft tissue trauma and pain post-operatively while improving visualization of the intrathoracic organs. This seminar will present the instrumentation, equipment, techniques, and common applications that are possible in a specialty practice. Thoracic wall tumors and their treatment will also be presented in this seminar. Finally, speakers will touch on the management of pain after any form of thoracic surgery being an important part of post-operative management.
