Dr. Boel Fransson, DVM, PhD, DACVS has been practicing small animal minimally invasive surgery (MIS) at Washington State University since 2006. Since then, the WSU-MIS research group has developed the country's first laparoscopic simulation laboratory available to veterinary surgeons. The veterinary assessment of laparoscopic skills (VALS), a training program and a certifying skills test, was developed based on this body of research. Boel's clinical interests include laparoscopic suturing, chylothorax treatment, and gasless laparoscopy in addition to all sorts of MIS and interventional procedures. Dr. Franssson is past president of the Veterinary Endoscopy Society (2011-2013) and the Society of Veterinary Soft Tissue Surgeons (2013-2015). She is a recently accepted as ACVS Founding Fellow in Minimally Invasive Surgery.
