Dr. Erik Clary presently serves as a referral surgeon with Tennessee Veterinary Surgical Specialists. Prior to accepting that position in July, 2022, he served as Associate Professor Of Surgery & Bioethics at Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. He holds the DVM degree from Kansas State University and trained in small animal surgery first at the University of Georgia and then North Carolina State University.
Post-residency, Dr. Clary was recruited to Duke University Medical Center where he served for many years as a researcher working chiefly in the field of minimally-invasive surgery. Concurrent with the work at Duke, he founded a veterinary surgical practice that operated in Raleigh-Durham, NC, for over 20 years until his departure in early 2018 to join the faculty at OkSU-CVM.
Dr. Clary’s present activity includes orthopedic and soft tissue small animal surgery in a mobile practice setting. Veterinary academic service continues through locum teaching opportunities. He is also a PhD-trained ethicist and devotes significant time to work in the field of bioethics.
