Dr. Adam was born in Melton Mowbray in England, a town famous for horses, pork pies, and Stilton cheese. She grew up in Newmarket and attended the Royal Veterinary College, the University of London, for her veterinary degree.
After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Adam worked as an assistant trainer in Newmarket. Returning to clinical practice, she worked as an equine clinician in the UK and Australia prior to coming back to the US to pursue further clinical education. Following an internship at Colorado State University, Dr. Adam completed an internal medicine residency at Texas A&M, becoming a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2004. She then pursued her interest in orthopedic and general surgery by completing a surgery residency at the New Bolton Center, University of Pennsylvania, and became a Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons, in 2008. She worked as a surgeon/internist in referral clinical practices before returning to academia to gain further educational training in experimental biology and discovery science. She joined the MacLeod Musculoskeletal and Applied Biology Laboratory at the Gluck Equine Research Center for graduate work.
Her contribution to the veterinary profession includes member of the ACVS Research Committee, AAEP Racing Committee, and as a board member KAEP.
