The conventional management algorithm of hip dysplasia may not be optimal for working/sporting dogs because dog owners and handlers invest significant effort, time, and sums of money in acquiring and training working/sporting dogs and because of high expectations regarding working/sporting dogs ability to perform over time. This presentation focuses on aspects of the management of hip dysplasia particularly relevant to working/sporting dogs.
