Fluorescent imaging is becoming an important part of surgery to identify different structures. It is a bridge between regular imaging like CT lymphangiogram and identification of the thoracic duct during surgery for the treatment of a chylothorax. Also, fluorescent imaging can be used to identify sentinel lymph nodes for different tumors. Different cases will be used to describe the utilization of Indocyanine green and near-infrared light to identify the thoracic duct for the treatment of chylothorax and draining lymph nodes for lung tumors.
