Building on Jim Tomlison’s minimally invasive osteosynthesis of sacroiliac luxation, a novel Sacro-Iliac Luxation Instrumentation System (SILIS), featuring a Minimally Invasive Lucent Aiming Device (MILAD), was recently designed to improve SIL reduction and fixation precision while eliminating exposure to radiation. Since then, further improvements in screw orientation accuracy have been experimentally achieved using robotic assisted sacral screw placement.
