Facing infectious diseases in Farm Animal medicine is very common and many patients are referred to secondary or tertiary care veterinary hospital to treat them. Referral centers also perform surgeries for which surgical site infection would have severe deleterious effect on the long-term outcome of the animal such as fracture repair. The selection of the antimicrobial in such cases is an important step in the treatment plan and is non-only dictated by the type of infection but also by the regulations specific to the Food Animal species
