This lecture will review how to diagnose common urogenital pathologies in the non-pregnant mare that require surgery and considerations regarding patient preparation and owner expectation. Vesicovaginal reflux, cervical pathology, perineal body and rectovaginal fistulas will be discussed. An emphasis will be placed on how to optimize conditions for surgery and managing owner expectations and potential post-operative considerations to improve outcome.
