Anesthetic mortality in rabbits is higher and success rate when performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation is lower than in other species due to anatomical, physiological, and pharmacological differences.
In the last years efforts have been made to improve clinical outcomes and decrease anesthetic mortality in this species. During this lecture we would discuss and summarize new research findings in areas such as:
- Intubation and airway management during anesthesia - Safer anesthetic protocols and practices - Monitoring to decrease complication rate - Treatment of cardiovascular complications and proper dosing of sympathomimetics and anticholinergics
